Rules for All Junior Exhibitors

These rules apply to all Junior Division exhibitors.
Please refer to the full rulebook for complete details.

  1. General Rules Apply – All general Baca County Fair rules also apply to the Junior Show. Please review them.

  2. Eligibility – Exhibitors must be active members in good standing of a Baca County 4-H Club or FFA Chapter and enrolled in the project they are showing. High school graduates may exhibit through the summer after graduation.

  3. Entry Limits – Exhibitors may only enter once per class, and an item cannot be entered for more than one premium. The exception to this rule is horticulture, crops, and livestock classes. In those areas, exhibitors are still limited to two premiums/placings per class.

  4. Record Books – Required records may be completed in pencil, ink, or electronic format. Projects will only be eligible to receive premiums if submitted by required date.

  5. Labeling – All exhibits (except livestock and crops) must include the exhibitor’s name, age, and city/county.

  6. Age Divisions – Based on age as of December 31st of 4-H year

    • Cloverbuds: 5–7

    • Junior: 8–10

    • Intermediate: 11–13

    • Senior: 14–18

  7. Current Year Work – All exhibits must be completed during the current project year by the exhibitor. Submissions cannot have been completed or shown during a prior year.

  8. Interview Judging – Consumer Science and General 4-H projects require in-person interview judging.

  9. State Fair Exhibits – Projects selected for State Fair (blue ribbon/champion) must be turned in to the CSU Extension Office by the designated deadline. Exhibits must be properly packed by the exhibitor. They will be transported by extension office to the State Fair for exhibition.

  10. Record Book Signatures – Record books must be signed by the main 4-H club leader or designated project leader. If no signature space is provided, sign inside the front cover.

  11. Exhibit Release – All exhibits must remain on display (or in barns for livestock) until officially released by the department superintendent.

Important Reminders for All Exhibitors and Parents

sportsmanship.jpg

Sportsmanship is non-negotiable at the Baca County Fair and Rodeo.

Exhibitors, parents, leaders, and spectators are all expected to treat judges, superintendents, ring stewards, and any other fair staff with respect.

There will be zero tolerance for anyone arguing with or insulting any of these officials. Anyone who cannot conduct themselves appropriately may be removed from the fair and lose the privilege of future participation. Poor conduct will also result in the forfeiture of any prizes or premiums won.

The final - and only - authority
on any issues related to rules, conduct, or disciplinary action at the
Baca County Fair is the Fair Board and the Extension Agent.

Questions and concerns may always be respectfully raised with Superintendents, Fair Board Members, or the County Extension Agent.

Department Superintendents have authority to add or amend rules as needed with the approval of the Fair Board and Extension Agent.

The Fair Board and Extension Agent will make decisions regarding disciplinary actions as needed.

Decisions made by Fair Officials are final.
